First Quarter Faves 2018

“And I have no concept of time other than it is flying…”
– Alanis Morrisette, All I Really Want

I can’t believe the first quarter of 2018 is already ending. I always feel like time passes by too quickly I can hardly keep up!

Anyway, I have been meaning to post my favorite makeup and skin care items, but I don’t know why I haven’t done so. 😅 Since it’s already the end of March, I guess it’s just fitting that I post my first quarter faves!

99.9% of the products in my possession are all close to my heart, but these quarterly favorites that I’ll be posting are the ones that I’ve been using repeatedly from the time this year started.

I listed everything down in my notebook first, so that I won’t miss a thing. However, I still made quite a long list and I can’t get myself to remove a thing. 😅 Continue reading “First Quarter Faves 2018”

10 Steps OUT! 3 Steps IN! Skin Care Made Easy with ALTHEA BARE ESSENTIALS!

Yes, my dear friends. The 10-step skin care is now history. It turns out that long and complicated skin care can tire our skin, too! What better way to do our skin care routine than cutting it short with less products?

That’s why Althea Korea has come out with revolutionary new products that will completely change our lives!

Eversince the Korean wave reached the Philippine shores, Filipino men and women alike have adapted Korean style not only their fashion but also the way they want their skin to look like.

Koreans like the “chok-chok” effect – the dewy, bouncy glowing skin effect. In order to achieve that, they apply layer upon layer of moisturizing products, such as toner, serum, emulsion, mask, mist, and any cream that screams moisture.

Filipinos never liked this effect before, since it makes us look greasy. Any shine on our skin was a major no-no. Most of us have oily skin, so we’ve all aimed for a super matte finish.

Fast forward to now, we’ve started to appreciate the youthful glow on our skin, even without putting on makeup. And if we DO apply makeup, we’d like a smooth and healthy canvas for a more flawless looking finish.

However, with our busy schedule, I doubt that 100% of the people who do the 7-step or the 10-step Korean skin care routine have done it religiously. There will always be one person who has skipped a day or two (or even three!) because of exhaustion.

So it’s amazing that after the success of their Petal Velvet Powder (which by the way, is now available in Warm Beige 😉), Althea has finally released their latest products that focus on the basics. They are just what we all need to achieve that chok-chok skin! Continue reading “10 Steps OUT! 3 Steps IN! Skin Care Made Easy with ALTHEA BARE ESSENTIALS!”

The BEST Healing Clay on the Planet?! | #RIXREVIEWS: NAVAJO Indian Healing Clay Bentonite Clay Mask

These past few weeks, my Facebook feed had been bombarded with posts about people in queues just for a tub of a particular Indian Healing Clay. Some of them had known it and loved it, while others were probably just jumping on the bandwagon. Some of them didn’t even know what they were for, but there they were, stuck in No. 69, 78, or 100. Some even posted in groups asking how the product was used, right AFTER making a purchase.

I mean, shouldn’t we know first what we are lining up for? That before spending money on a product, I believe we must give it some thought beforehand.

But I cannot deny that I got curious myself. Why would it be hyped if it weren’t good, right? Lucky me, I was given the opportunity to try out something from a different brand that promises the same effect. (Thanks, Ms. Cha!) Since it contains 100% Natural Calcium Bentonite and Green Clay, it claims to effectively cleanse and detoxify, while healing the skin.

Since it was my first time to try an Indian Healing Clay mask, I had to educate myself and make a lot of research.

DO note, though, that this product was sent to me for testing and reviewing purposes. Rest assured, you can expect that what’s written here is purely my honest opinion, based on my personal experience. Brighten face in 7 days?! | #RIXREVIEWS: OPULENCE Time to Glow Face Brightening Set

First of all, I’d like to thank Ms. Trish of Opulence for sending over their Time to Glow Face Brightening Set. Rest assured, everything I’m writing here is purely my honest opinion. Everything is going to be based on my personal experience.

Prior to this I had a different routine, which consisted of some other local products, Korean brands, and Opulence White + Renew. I stopped using the other products for a good seven days, and used only the products from Opulence. I wanted to be sure that any changes that would occur were solely because of these products.

What is Opulence Skin?

Opulence Skin offers skin care products that are all made in the Philippines. According to their website, they use “the best local and important active ingredients.

What’s included in the kit?

Mabuhay ang OPM! The Official Nominees for the MYX Music Awards 2018

Among my many interests, I gotta say that music is my first love. Our family loved singing (most especially my father) so we always had to have a microphone or two, and  multiplex – if not minus one – tapes.

Since I grew up at the time when the only “threats” to studies were Nintendo Family Computer, Brick Games (Tetris), teksjolen, and sipa, my favorite past time was singing. Music has been a huge part of my life, but do not expect me to belt like Regine! (WHOOH!)

I have a confession to make: I’m a frustrated singer!

I haven’t listened to many new songs these days, both local and foreign, so it was truly refreshing to have heard new breeds of singers and musicians and their music (and they’re mostly indie) during the media launch of MYX Music Awards 2018.

There, I was able to see local artists such as TJ Monterde, Sassa Dagdag, Glaiza de Castro (whom I shared alone time in the powder room 🤭),  Jona, Shehyee, IV of SPADES, Keiko Necesario, Kaye Cal, Brisom, and Mr. Bones and the Boneyard.

Sassa, Jona, Glaiza de Castro, and TJ Monterde each performed one song. Sassa was the first performer and she sang Itatago na Lang, her second single from her debut album “Sassy Sassa”. Glaiza de Castro performed a Cinderella original, Bato sa Buhangin. TJ Monterde, who has been nominated for the category Male Artist of the Year, performed his single Kahit Kunwari. Finally, Jona (formerly known as Jonalyn Viray) sang Pusong Ligaw, which has been nominated for Media Soundtrack of the Year.

Her voice gave me goosebumps! Continue reading “Mabuhay ang OPM! The Official Nominees for the MYX Music Awards 2018”
