I’ve been using ALTHEA PETAL VELVET SUNAWAY for two months now and this is what I think…

A couple of months ago, my Althea box was delivered to my doorstep. The box contained their newest product at that time: the Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway. They also included all three shades of their Petal Velvet Powder and a cute holographic pouch.

I wore Sunaway almost every day since I got it, and used it with the Petal Velvet Powders. I was really satisfied with how both products worked despite the humidity. My review was posted on my channel:

Fast forward to today, I have not stopped using what I consider the BEST sunscreen for me. I use it with the Petal Velvet Powder, under a full face of makeup, or with a compact powder. Amazingly, the Petal Velvet Sunaway did not affect the quality of my makeup. If it did, though, I’d say it was to kick it up a notch.

Like any other face products, it DOES NOT STOP the face from oiling up, but it DOES prevent it from happening sooner. I noticed that it was also sweat-proof, especially within a few hours upon application. If it does shine, it does not make the face feel icky or look greasy. It just gives my skin a nice and healthy glow, creating an illusion of a glass skin.

I’ve used other day creams with high SPF and most of them irritated my skin. My skin would itch and become red; tiny bumps would appear. I never experienced any of that with the Sunaway, considering that I have a slightly sensitive skin.

However, I still suggest that you do a patch test on your skin, most especially if you have a highly sensitive skin.

Let me tell you more about the product.

The Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway is housed in a white tube with a narrow spout. It has the signature Althea pink screw cap, which doesn’t feel flimsy at all.

The product is runny and liquidy so it is a MUST that you shake it vigorously to blend it well. You’ll hear that there is a bead that actually mixes the product inside the bottle.

I really like the spout because it makes the application a lot easier.

Its main ingredient is DAMASK ROSE, hence the floral scent. Some of you may not like it, but others, including me, are okay with it. It may remind you of your granny’s powder, but I’d say this is a lot more gentle.

The application is always a breeze as it blends nicely on the skin. I normally use my fingers, but if you prefer using a brush, it’ll work just fine, too. You do you. 😉

It sets to a smooth velvety, demi-matte finish, hence the name. This is why it is good for all skin types. Thanks to the Micro Powder Barrier ™ that absorbs sebum and excess oil. In spite of that, it prevents the skin from drying up with its hyaluronic acid.

Not only that, despite its extremely high SPF of 50+ PA++++, it does not leave an ugly white cast unlike most sunscreens. It is because they use an advanced non-chemical filter that has a more transparent formula.

Amazing, isn’t it?

Often, first impressions change as we keep using a product. But as for me, my first impression on the Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway remains the same. I love it!
