People take mugwort root as a “tonic” and to boost energy.https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-123/mugwort
People take the rest of the plant for stomach and intestinal conditions including colic, diarrhea, constipation, cramps, weak digestion, worm infestations, and persistent vomiting. Mugwort is also used to stimulate gastric juice and bile secretion. It is also used as a liver tonic; to promote circulation; and as a sedative. Other uses include treatment of hysteria, epilepsy, and convulsions in children.
Women take mugwort for irregular periods and other menstrual problems.
In combination with other ingredients, mugwort root is used for mental problems (psychoneuroses), ongoing fatigue and depression (neurasthenia), depression, preoccupation with illness (hypochondria), general irritability, restlessness, trouble sleeping (insomnia), and anxiety.
Some people apply mugwort lotion directly to the skin to relieve itchiness caused by burn scars.
Apparently, mugwort does wonders to our body inside and out. And a Korean skin care brand has also put it to good use. This brand is called I’m From. I’m From is under Wishtrend, the company that carries popular brands such as Dear Klairs, By Wishtrend, CosRX, and Chica y Chico.
When I found out that I’d be receiving a couple of I’m From products from Wishtrend, I did a quick research so I’d know what to expect. Apart from reading the description on their website, I also watched EuniUnni’s video on YouTube. Despite having seen lots of photos and videos, I was still surprised when I finally held them in my hands. Both products were housed in glass containers, and they weren’t just samples! I was given full-sized products! Yay!
I love that the color of the boxes already gives off that nature vibes. From the top flap of the box, I’m From’s tagline can be read and it says “Nature as it is, it’s I’m From”. It is also indicated that the products are from Ganghwa, Korea and that the main ingredient, mugwort, is harvested in May “when the world is full of energy”.
Thanks to Wishtrend, I was able to experience the magic of mugwort through their essence and mask! Read on to know more about the products.

Product Description: The I’m from Mugwort Mask is a wash off mask
to calm and soothe the skin. Containing 2.1% of mugwort, full of vitamins and minerals, it quickly soothes irritation and redness while having a cooling and calming effect. The mild gel formulation contains mugwort powder to regulate the heat of the skin as soon as it touches the skin. Also, as a Korean natural herb, the mugwort is widely known for treatments and detoxing effect. Apply a thick layer of the mask on areas with acne or inflammation. Find instant calming and healing of these skin troubles.
The green and white theme of the box is simple, yet on-the-spot. I really appreciate that they’ve included important information on the box such as the product description, the ingredients, directions, and expiration dates. These are essential for me, most especially if it’s my first time. Even though everything is available online nowadays, reading the label is a must.
The product is housed in a glass jar, which I like very much. It doesn’t feel cheap, so you can say that you get your money’s worth. It has an extra plastic lid underneath the screw cap, which is great as it adds protection from any contamination. It also comes with a spatula so you won’t need to dip in your fingers to pick up the product.
The product has a thick consistency that reminds me of paste or jam. It is packed with bits of mugwort which act as a scrub. They’re soft enoough, though, so they don’t hurt the skin. It feels super cool on the skin, and I find it relaxing and calming.
It has an earthy, grassy, woody scent to it, and there’s also a hint of mint that reminds me of Stay Fresh candies. I actually love how it smells. It makes me feel closer to nature! 😋😊
Here’s how I use it
After washing my face with my Althea Contour Cleanser, I lightly pat it with my towel. I make sure that my face is still a little bit damp, because I find it easier to spread the product all over my face when it isn’t completely dry.
I use the spatula to pick up the product and to apply it on my face. Fingers are fine, too, but if you prefer a less messy routine, use the spatula. Then I leave the product on my face for at least 20 minutes, but there are times I let it stay for 10 minutes more.
Rinsing it is not a tedious task, as the mask melts away with the water. Massaging the face gently in circular motions makes washing it off a lot quicker.
What I think about the product
Eversince I got it, I’ve felt so at ease even when I see signs of acne. It is now my go-to when I have breakouts, which normally happen when I’m about to have my period or when I fall asleep with my makeup on.
My face becomes super clean every after wash. It also looks bright and my pores look super clear! I also like touching my face because it feels healthy and bouncy.
It might seem quite pricey, but because it is effective, made with natural ingredients, and cruelty-free, I can say it is worth every cent. It heals my acne fast, and that’s a super big PLUS. Moreover, one scoop is enough to cover the entire face, so it’ll surely go a long way.

Product Description: The I’m From Mugwort Essence is an essence to calm and soothe irritated skin. Consisting of a single ingredient, Mugwort 100%, the soft, thin and fluid texture quickly cleanse and detox sensitive skin. As a Korean natural herb, the mugwort has been widely known for treatments and detoxing effect. This is effective for treating acne, troubled, irritated skin. Apply the essence to areas with concerns to see instant effects. Also may be used as a facial mist, Mugwort bath, and feminine mist.
This product is 100% mugwort essence — no frills, no extras. It comes in a glass bottle, which is pretty huge, and it feels expensive and heavy. Since it’s a clear glass bottle, you can see the product inside. It has a plastic stopper (if that’s what it’s called) so it prevents the product from spilling.
Just like with the mask, the box of the Mugwort Essence also bears all the information I need to know. I also appreciate that they’ve included English translations, it won’t be a struggle trying to decipher what the label says.
The essence has a watery consistency, but it feels a bit more slippery and smoother than water, somewhat close to that of a liquid jelly. It also smells woody and earthy that I actually really like.
How I use it
I use it three ways: (1) using my hands, (2) using cotton pads, and (3) using a compressed mask.
Most of the time, though, I just sprinkle a generous amount on the palm of my hand, then pat it all over my face concentrating on the affected areas. The warmth of my hands helps the skin to completely absorb the goodness!
The Mugwort essence is really good at calming redness, irritation, and acne, so spot treating can also be done. Apply some product onto a cotton pad, place the cotton pad on the affected area, and let it stay there for a few minutes. As for me, I use Dear Klairs Toner Mate 2-in-1 Cotton Pad.
You may also use it with a DIY compressed mask. Soak the dry compressed mask that looks like a huge pill, with the essence. Once the mask softens, carefully open it and wear it on the face. Let it stay on the skin as long as you would with a sheet mask, or until it feels a little bit dry. I suggest that you press the mask against the face for better absorption.
What I think about the product
I really love how it makes my skin super hydrated and moisturized, especially when I keep layering it with the essence. It gives my face a chok-chok effect; it is when the skin looks glowing, plump, and healthy.
It instantly calms my tired skin, and diminishes redness. It helps calm my pimples, and I think it also prevents my skin from getting more breakouts.
It is good for all skin types, but I highly recommend this to those with dry, sensitive skin. Though I know the effect may vary from one skin to another, I believe it’s still worth giving it a shot.
